What is a good ukulele for beginners?

It’s frequently said that the ukulele is one of the easiest instruments to learn how to play. It could be due to the fact that it only has 4 strings or it could be because people quickly develop a passion for playing it, which makes it seem easier. Either way, if you are a ukulele beginner, here are a few of the best beginner ukelele reviews:

CYC Soprano Ukulele Beginner Kit

The soprano ukulele is the most recognized type of ukulele. It’s the small cute ukulele that you’ve probably seen in almost any movie featuring the gorgeous state of Hawaii, and the soprano ukulele is what’s featured in this option. This is fantastic as a good starter ukulele because it includes everything you will need. Included are the 21 inch soprano ukulele, straps, carrying bag, picks, and a digital clip-on tuner. The ukulele is also made from fine materials such as African Mahogany and Indonesia Rosewood. What more could you want in a beginners ukulele??

Kala Learn to Play Ukulele Starter Kit

The Kala Ukulele Starter Kit comes with everything you need to start playing today and is considered the best beginner ukulele by many. It includes a high-quality mahogany soprano ukulele with Aquila strings, quality open gear tuners, and GraphTech Nubone nut and saddle. The kit also includes a Kala logo tote-bag, a 16-page Quick Start Guide for ukulele beginners with information about your new ukulele, and all the tips you need to get started.

eMedia My Ukulele Beginner Pack for Kids

If you are looking for the best ukulele for kids, this kit could make for a really good beginner ukulele since it’s geared toward children. The small size of this soprano ukulele means that it’s perfect for the little fingers of your kid, and included in the pack is a DVD with playing lessons from Ralph Shaw, the “King of the Ukulele”. Your kid will love learning from a ukulele master, and you might even learn a thing or two as well with this best starter ukulele. In addition to the ukulele and DVD with lessons on how to play 15 different songs, you’ll also get a carrying case so your child can take their ukulele wherever they go.

What is the Best Ukulele?

So… the ultimate question: what is the best ukulele to buy? Well, while there are many many many qualities to take into consideration, the top rated ukulele and my personal favorite is the Lohanu Concert Size Ukulele Bundle. I bought this a couple years ago and have been obsessed ever since, constantly recommending it whenever my friends wonder which ukulele to buy. I prefer the concert size since it’s a bit larger and has a bigger sound, but you can also buy this same bundle in a soprano size if that’s what you prefer.

The concert ukulele is 24 inches long and has a mahogany top, back, sides and neck, rosewood fingerboard, Aquila strings installed (they’re the best ukulele strings that you can possibly get), handmade ABS bindings, chrome die cast tuning gears, and an arched back. It also comes with a tuner, a sturdy bag, 2 picks, a pick holder, and an extra set of strings in case you ever need them. All of this makes it the best quality ukulele on the market.

The Top 10 Ukuleles

In addition to the ukuleles already mentioned above, I have some more great ukulele recommendations for you. Here are the top 10 ukuleles –

Kala Mahogany KAA-15C Soprano Ukulele (Concert)

If you are looking for a seriously good quality ukulele, then you might have just found the best ukelele for you. Many people ask me “What is the best brand of ukulele?” and I tend to always give them a Kala ukulele review. It is a respected brand in the ukulele world, so know that you are getting a stellar instrument. This particular choice has a Mahogany body and neck, and a Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. It has geared tuners and comes pre-strung with Aquila nylgut strings to ensure your uke stays in tune and sounds sharp. In addition, the KAA ukes have a satin finish and an attractive rosette design, so they look as beautiful as they sound.

Mahalo EUK-200 Electric Ukulele

This might be the best electric ukulele out there, and as such, it is quite expensive. However, if you are a ukulele enthusiast and want to have the best sounding ukulele, look no further. This exquisite ukulele is a concert size and has a rosewood body with mahogany hardware. Even though it is electric, it will still sound like a ukulele (so don’t call it a ukulele guitar… it’s just an AWESOME ukulele)… just a better version in some people’s opinion.

Diamond Head DU-200B Deluxe Natural Mahogany Baritone Ukulele

Another great brand of ukuleles is Diamond Head, so here is a Diamond Head ukulele review. If you want a large ukulele, then this is probably the best baritone ukulele out there. A carrying bag is included and it has a nice satin finish with mahogany, which gives a clear resonance and tone. Even though this ukulele is larger in size, it’s still affordable for any ukulele guru.

Luna Mahogany Series Tattoo Concert Ukulele

This beautiful concert sized Hawaiian ukulele has a traditional Hawaiian body tattoo on the front of the instrument. This design makes it unique and it will definitely stand out from the crowd. The design is based on a Hawaiian turtle (honu), a symbol of longevity and endurance, and with this stunning ukulele, you’re sure to be playing the uke for a long time. This ukulele only weighs 1.3 pounds and comes with a mahogany back, sides, and neck.

Luna Mahogany Series Honu Soprano Ukulele

If you are looking for the best soprano ukulele and want a cool design on your ukulele, this could be a great choice. It comes with a Hawaiian turtle on the front in the middle. Aside from being a cute ukulele, it also plays great. It is 21 inches long, has a satin finish, and comes with four Aquila strings (the best ukulele strings available) and a sharp black carrying case.

Mahalo Hano Elite Series MH2CE Acoustic-Electric Concert Ukulele

Unlike the other electric Mahalo ukulele review above, this ukulele is both acoustic and electric, bringing you the best of both worlds. The most notable feature that makes it different than other ukuleles is the fact that it is black. This gives it a sleek look and it doesn’t even really look like your typical ukelele. This is a concert sized uke and plays like a charm, and comes with a padded bag. This is the best acoustic electric ukulele available online.

Woodi USA Soprano 21″ Ukulele Pattern 2 WU-21F2(WH)

This is undoubtedly the best ukelele for any girl that wants to make a fashion statement. This ukulele comes with a pink flowers design on the front and back. Aside from being adorable, it is a good quality ukulele as well. It’s a great choice for first-time players or for acoustic multi-instrumentalists looking to expand their tonal palette. This ukulele comes with a black case and a reasonable price.

Protege by Cordoba U100CM Concert Ukulele

This concert sized ukulele is a great choice if you want something that sounds great and is a bit bigger than the small soprano ukulele. At 4.5 pounds, this is one of the heavier ukuleles in our top ten, but it is durable and a decent price as a cheap concert ukulele. It comes with mahogany top, back, and sides, Rosewood bridge and fingerboard, mother-of-pearl ring rosette, and a lightweight satin (matte) finish. As with any good purchase, it includes a carrying bag as well.

Kala MKA-S Limited Edition Makala Soprano Ukulele

I’m a big fan of Kala ukuleles and can highly recommend this one. I actually just bought this one a week ago, but I already love it. It’s a good price, sounds great, and the black accents on the tuning knobs and matching black strings looks amazing. Another plus with this ukulele is that the tuners are geared to ensure your uke stays in tune and sounds sharp. In addition, the MKA ukes have a satin finish, so they look as beautiful as they sound.

Martin C1K Concert Uke – Koa

If you are a ukulele enthusiast and not just looking for a cheap beginners ukulele, consider treating yourself to this Martin ukulele. It’s more expensive than all of the other options, but well worth the money in my opinion if you want to take your playing to another level. It sounds beautiful, looks beautiful, and plays beautifully. You’re not going to believe how full and rich the C1K Uke sounds when you strum it; Martin packed a whole lot of tone into a super-portable instrument and I am tremendously thankful for this high quality ukulele.

What is a good cheap ukulele for sale?

So, how much does a ukulele cost? The Best Ukulele Brands

If you are looking for the top 10 ukulele brands or something similar, that’s hard for me to say because each brand offers something different. It really just depends on what kind of ukulele you want. I can tell you that some of the most popular ukulele brands are Kala, Mahalo, Lanikai, Pono, Kamaka, Martin, Luna and Kanilea. Pono, Martin, and Kanilea offer the more higher end and more expensive ukuleles, while Kala has a broad range with both lower and higher end ukuleles. They also offer great starter kits for ukulele beginners, so Kala tends to be one of my favorites and universally one of the best ukulele brands.
